Caring Coins | You Are Never Alone Foundation

Children in Need...

Caring Coins have been shared with children and youths in schools, to children and youth in foster care and to camp programs such as Camp Agape for children with a parent in prison. Caring Coins have also gone to children in Uganda, Ghana and Tanzania . Spanish Caring Coins have been shared with children in Guatemala and Ecuador.

There are so many stories...

Youths raised funds to sponsor Caring Coins for children and youth in foster care which were distributed individually at the summer picnic. A member of the Foster Youth Teen Advisory Board wrote "The coins were distributed at the picnic and were well received with some of the kids wearing them as a necklace and others as a bracelet. It means so much for the kids to know someone is thinking about them."

Children at Camp Agape, a camp in Vermont for children with a parent in prison have been participating in our Share That You Care Program for over three years. The camp director writes "Caring Coins have had a deep impact at Camp Agape. Campers share their coins with each other, counselors and family members and friends. They look forward to getting more each year."

Responses from the campers:
One camper said, "I'm never going to take this off."
Another young girl said, "I love to feel the angel because then I know I'm not alone."
One little boy was very upset because he lost his Caring Coin. When told he could have another coin he asked, "Can I have 5 more for my friends?" Of course he could.
Another young boy told how he put his coin in his fish bowel... "My fish is my best friend and I don’t want him to be lonely..."

Youths at the Safety Net Program in Florida, a Program to prevent Family Violence, were excited to receive their Caring Coins. They requested "Pass the Caring Forward" Coins that they could pass on to their family and friends. They were an inspiration for the pack of Caring Coins each participant in our Share That You Care Program receives to pass on to others.

Caring Coins were shared at a school for children with special needs. A teacher writes "...The kids are floating around school with coins hung on a variety of interesting places, off of pants pulls, hanging on chair legs, etc. They are also sharing the coins with each other. These Caring Coins have really had an impact here where our students can often feel alone."

The Caring Coins traveled to Uganda and were given to children at an orphanage there. One of the youths who distributed them said... "We gave about 200 Angel Caring Coins to the children at the orphan village of North Lira, Uganda. Besides their clothes and school backpack this is their only other possession. They loved them...I was amazed that such a little thing meant so much to them."

200 Angel Caring Coins were distributed at the House of Hope in Ghana "...When I handed out the wooden Caring Coin necklaces, the children reacted as though I had given them gold. They were so happy to have been given something. They couldn't stop smiling. They didn't take these coins for granted they wanted to keep them forever to remember that someone does care about them."
