Teams assembling coins
Salley Gibney has worn many hats as a wife, mother, registered nurse, entrepreneur, community volunteer and host of a local cable TV show.
One night Salley had a dream..."I dreamed about a coin. This coin was made of wood and was engraved with the image of an angel and the message "You are never alone". I thought this was a wonderful message to share with others. It wasn't until sometime later that I realized that this message was also meant for me. Although I had a caring family and friends, I was feeling alone as I faced some of my life challenges."
The dream led to the creation of our wooden Angel Caring Coin. At first, Salley randomly shared the coins with others who warmly accepted this caring message. Within her own family, Salley soon found that the mere presence of the angel on the Caring Coin was a calming influence for her mother as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease.
"Throughout my experiences, as a wife, a mother and a nurse, I have realized how we can all feel alone as we face our life challenges. I have seen the importance of a personal connection, of knowing that someone does care."
As Salley shared the Caring Coins randomly, she found that many people also wanted to reach out in a simple, personal and tangible way to let someone know they care. This led to the formation of the You Are Never Alone Foundation, Inc. and was the inspiration for the foundation logo and the Me to You Caring Coins.
