Caring Coins | You Are Never Alone Foundation

Caring Programs and Activities

We all care...

Caring is not just a feeling…it is how we act and how we treat ourselves and each other. Each simple act of caring, of acknowledging another’s presence... with a smile, a word, a touch or a Caring Coin offers hope…Hope that can turn any day around.

Because we share similar feelings, experiences and challenges we want to reach out to let others know we understand...we care. This can be a member of our family, a friend, an acquaintance or even someone we don’t know.

Our wooden Caring Coin with its message You are never alone has proven to be a simple, tangible way to say you care. The Caring Coin is a reminder of a caring connection…a gift of hope. Many people share Caring Coins with their family and friends.

The Caring Coins mean different things to different people:
A mother writes: "...My son is struggling with chronic Lyme disease and has been going thru A LOT. I gave him a Caring Coin as a reminder that I'm with him, he is never alone! He carries it with him every day."
A grandfather writes: "I wanted something to give my grand kids, something that would remind them that I’m always thinking about them. The Caring Coins fit the ticket."
A sister writes: "My sister is going through a hard time. I wish we lived closer. I gave her a Caring Coin just to remind her that I am thinking about her."
A man writes: "I received a Caring Coin when I was in the hospital. I still keep it with me and find myself reaching into my pocket just to feel it. It feels good."

The magic of the Caring Coins is everywhere:

Share That You Care Opportunities for Youth
Our children and our youths are our present and our future. Each one is precious. Each one is capable of making a difference one person at a time starting with themselves.

Share That You Care is a unique program for schools, camps and youth groups that offers participants an opportunity to explore simple and positive ways to express caring towards themselves and others using the Caring Coins to "jump start" their compassion. Teachers and guidance counselors utilize the Caring Coins and the program's discussion questions as a positive approach that addresses important value issues related to bullying, peer relations, and empathy. This simple caring message carries over to their families, communities and the world.

The participants in the Share That You Care Programs are offered the opportunity to sign the cards attached to the Caring Coins for our You Are Never Alone Bangladesh Program. Each Caring Coins is a tangible reminder of a caring connection with a child across the world in Bangladesh, which can plant the seeds of understanding and good will for the years to come.

The magic of the Caring Coins is seen in these elementary students' responses:
"We can make a difference one Caring Coin at a time."
"The coin makes it easy to let someone know you care."
"The more we care, the closer we are to world peace."
"I like having a Caring Coin for myself."

Students in Alaska have started a Care For the World Club utilizing the Caring Coins as reminders of a caring connection with their family members and friends. They have brought Caring Coins and cookies to the elders in their towns; sent Caring Coins to a school in Cambodia and are participating in our You Are Never Alone Bangladesh Program.

College students in Vermont have shared Caring Coins at their Diversity Appreciation Day as a reminder to appreciate and respect each other.

Share That You Care Community Programs offer children and youths of all ages opportunities to reach out to others through sponsoring and distributing Caring Coins to our troops, children in need, persons in shelters and others around the world letting them know they are not alone...someone cares. Frequently, the Caring Coins are included in other community programs.

A Youth Group Director writes:

"Thank you for the Caring Coins you sent with our youth group when we went to New York to volunteer. The kids were especially touched by the homeless population they met at the shelter where they worked. On the last day they handed out the Caring Coins to someone who touched their hearts. Some went to homeless adults and others to children from at risk families. The response was amazing: several people had tears in their eyes just knowing someone cared. One of the teens said: It's awesome to be able to share and connect with someone: a simple gift of a coin made such a huge difference."
